Slovenia 2026 - Cash Social Assistance

This is a consultative referendum. Parliament is asking voters whether they support an idea. It does not have to follow the result, and a yes vote does not by itself change the law. The question is about cash social assistance, the benefit paid to people whose income is too low to live on. It asks whether that right, for people who are able to work and have no objective obstacle to working, should depend on them actively doing socially useful work. A yes vote supports that condition. A no vote opposes making the benefit depend on that work. The question does not set the hours, the pay, or who would assign the work. Any such rule would need a later law.
