Cabo Verde 2026 - Presidential Election

Cabo Verde elects its president on Sunday 15 November 2026. A candidate needs more than half of the valid votes to win. If nobody reaches a majority, the top two meet in a second round on 29 November. The president is head of state, serves five years, and may be re-elected once. Six candidates appear on the ballot in the order drawn by the Constitutional Court. President José Maria Neves is seeking a second term with the support of the PAICV. Former justice minister Joana Rosa is supported by the MpD. The other four candidates are standing as independents.
